As the holiday season begins to whisper its

arrival, downtown Grand Rapids transforms into a festive wonderland at the Christkindl Markt, a charming open-air Christmas village that brings the feel of a traditional European "Weihnachtsmarkt" to West Michigan. From Wednesday, November 19 through Tuesday, December 23, 2025, the market opens Wednesday through Sunday with twinkling lights, cozy wooden vendor huts, and the scent of Glühwein (mulled wine) drifting through the crisp winter air.

Located on the plaza of the Grand Rapids Downtown Market (435 Ionia Ave SW), this retreat for the senses features 60+ artisan booths offering hand-crafted gifts, gourmet food, and specialty winter beverages. Visitors can reserve heated, glass-enclosed “Alpenglobes” for up to eight—ideal for a romantic date night or friends’ gathering—while curling sheets nearby invite a playful winter sport under the lights.

For guests of The Leonard at Logan House, just minutes away, the Christkindl Markt offers the perfect evening outing: wander hand-in-hand amid holiday cheer, sip a warm spiced drink, enjoy the crisp December air, then return to the comfort of the B&B—where decorated Christmas trees and historic warmth await. With its blend of European charm, festive lights, and seasonal indulgence, the Christkindl Markt is more than an event—it’s an invitation to start a holiday tradition.
